Hillary, they just don't like you
It's not race or age or gender. It's simply that American voters have turned from the Clinton past to new hope in Obama
by Rod Liddle
I'm not sure how I'd feel if I were a black man watching Barack Obama win the Democratic presidential nomination and reading the eulogies pouring in from whitey. I have the suspicion that I would take myself off to the bathroom sharpish. Obama's victory has been cheered much as one might cheer a labrador that can balance rich tea biscuits on its nose -- and with that slightly sickly tone you get from news reports of the Paralympic Games. Oh, didn't he do well! And he's, you know, black! Bless him!
Obama's blackness is the least remarkable thing about him. Indeed he spent much of the campaign insisting that race was a non-issue, of no consequence, and being hawkish on immigration. Unlike his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, who at certain opportune moments during the campaign blacked up as if she were about to break into a rendition of My Mammy.
Such is politics, I suppose. Obama ran a good campaign but he was helped by the fact that he was pitched against an opponent who had nothing whatsoever to commend her except for her gender -- that, and the fact that she was one of the fairly large number of women who very occasionally had sexual intercourse with a popular president, Bill Clinton. None of Bill's magic washed off on her; she appeared shrill, stiff, disingenuous and even vicious.
In the battle of competing beleaguered and supposedly unelectable minorities -- blacks v women -- Obama won for the perfectly respectable reason that he is charismatic, eloquent and has appeared less opportunistic than his rival. Aside from an unhealthy minority, people judge politicians not according to their skin or their gender, but by whether they suspect that if left alone in your drawing room for five minutes they would nick the silverware. Hillary, they thought, probably would. And the antimacassars. And the sideboard.
Now we have Obama v the representative from another equally disparaged minority: the elderly. John McCain is 71 and his bowels have been displayed for the edification of the American public, revealing "precancerous polyps". The electorate has also been enjoined to consider the melanomas that previously afflicted McCain's shoulder and the problems with his lymph and carotid glands. So the election itself may be a close call -- blackness v infirmity.
You hope the American public banish this from their minds and, on more rational grounds, go for Obama. Strip away the Vietnam hero stuff and the incontinence pads and McCain is revealed as a politician further to the right than a fish knife. You might hope, too, that Obama politely rejects the ministrations from his former opponent to become a running mate. They don't like Hillary much, the electorate, and it's not because of her race, age or gender.

Sen. 'KnowNothing Victim' Clinton Holds News Conference
EFFECTIVELY PLEADS 5TH BY INVOKIN
Sen. 'KnowNothing Victim' Clinton Holds News Conference EFFECTIVELY PLEADS 5TH BY INVOKING SPOUSAL PRIVILEGE by Mia T, February 23, 2001
WASHINGTON- February 22. Sen. KnowNothing Victim Clinton held her premiere press conference today on Capitol Hill, ostensibly to answer questions about the peddling of White House pardons by her brother and her campaign treasurer. Notably absent among the press queries were any about her own involvement not only in those pardons, but in the larger universe of sold pardons--the incipient clinton scandal du jour--Pardongate.
KnowNothing's brother, Hugh Rodham, secured two of the 141 clinton midnight pardons, one for a cocaine kingpin and the other for a snake-oil swindler. Rodham netted a quick $400,000 for his "work" according to various rodhams and clintons and their assorted lawyers. KnowNothing's campaign treasurer, William Cunningham III, himself a law partner of longtime KnowNothing adviser Harold Ickes, helped obtain last-minute pardons for two convicted felons.
LA FAMIGLIA
Displaying a willingness to throw her brother (along with her husband) to the wolves, Sen. Victim Clinton was quick to make a distinction between her big, bad brother's pardon "work" and that of her campaign treasurer, "a fine lawyer and a fine man." The "family" connection of brother Rodham to Clinton rendered Rodham's "work" offensive, whereas the campaign treasurer Cunningham's connection to the senator and her campaign coffers made his securing of two pardons in record time a sterling example of highminded, effective public service.
KnowNothing has apparently not thought this thing through. If the "family" connection makes lobbying for cocaine-kingpin and snake-oil-swindler pardons unsavory for brother Rodham, then the "family" connection makes lobbying for the Hasidim 4 (see Keating 5) pardons even more distasteful for the wife, First Lady and senator-elect. Moreover, pardons for votes is arguably a greater offense than pardons for cash.
EFFECTIVELY PLEADS FIFTH BY INVOKING SPOUSAL PRIVILEGE
KnowNothing specifically declined to answer when asked whether she discussed the pardons with her husband, effectively pleading the fifth. Turning aside questions about the pardon decisions her husband had made, she told reporters they should address those issues with him and his staff. She refused to say whether he should agree to appear voluntarily before congressional committees investigating the pardons. Interestingly, no one asked her whether she would agree to appear voluntarily before those same congressional committees.
I DIDN'T HAVE SEX WITH THAT PARDON
"I did not have any involvement in the pardons that were granted or not granted," insisted Sen. KnowNothing, seeming to forget her presence at the New-Square/Oval-Office schmooze that secured pardons for the four Hasidic felons who set up a phony school in Brooklyn to swindle the government out of millions intended for the poor.
RESURRECTING RUFF
KnowNothing noted that her"best memory" was that she never spoke to her brother or to Mr. Cunningham about the pardons. With variations of "I don't have a memory" and "my best memory, and avoiding the more obvious "I don't recall" and "my best recollection," KnowNothing reprised the Ruffian standard used during the clinton years to commit perjury with impunity.
I GET LETTERS
...or more precisely, envelopes. During her denials of involvement in any of the pardons, KnowNothing made the curious claim: "People handed me envelopes, I passed them on [and never opened a single one. Honest.]"
I AM VICTIM
Reprising the role of victim that enabled her to win a senate seat in spite of low poll numbers, high personal negatives and consistent public failures, the senator peppered her answers about big, bad Hugh (understanding that the subtext was big, bad Bill) with "saddened" and "disappointed" and "heartbroken" and "shocked."
UTTER CONTEMPT FOR THE PEOPLE
This session today was cut short by a staffer when reporters appeared dissatisfied by Senator KnowNothing's lack of candor.
In the end, this press conference full of poses, poll-tested phrases and prevarication was just another display of the clintons' utter contempt for the people. Bill Clinton committed the same error last Sunday in his shameless, lie-filled New York Times Pardongate Apologia.
The clintons' fundamental error: They are too arrogant and dim-witted to understand that the demagogic process in this fiberoptic age isn't about counting spun heads; it's about not discounting circumambient brains.

SICK. Disgusting. And yet revealing. Hillary Clinton is staying in the race in the event some nut kills Barack Obama.
It could happen, but what definitely has happened is that Clinton has killed her own chances of being vice president. She doesn't deserve to be elected dog catcher anywhere now.
Her shocking comment to a South Dakota newspaper might qualify as the dumbest thing ever said in American politics.
Her lame explanation that she brought up the 1968 assassination of Robert Kennedy because his brother Ted's illness was on her mind doesn't cut it. Not even close.
We have seen an X-ray of a very dark soul. One consumed by raw ambition to where the possible assassination of an opponent is something to ponder in a strategic way. Otherwise, why is murder on her mind?
It's like Tanya Harding's kneecapping has come to politics. Only the senator from New York has more lethal fantasies than that nutty skater.
We could have seen it coming, if only we had realized Clinton's thinking could be so cold. She has grown increasingly wild in her imagery lately, invoking everything from slavery to the political killings in Zimbabwe in making her argument for the Florida and Michigan delegations. She claimed to be the victim of sexism, despite winning the votes of white men.
But none of it was moving the nomination needle, with Obama, despite recent dents, still on course to be the victor.
So she kept digging deeper, looking for the magic button. Instead, she pushed the eject button, lifting herself right out of consideration.
Giving voice to such a vile thought is all the more horrible because fears Obama would be killed have been an undercurrent to his astonishing rise. Republican Mike Huckabee made a stupid joke about it recently. Many black Americans have talked of it, reflecting their assumption that racists would never tolerate a black President and that Obama would be taken from them.
Clinton has now fed that fear. She needs a very long vacation. And we need one from her.
Say good night, Hillary. And go away.

COMMENT:
Missus clinton's 'timing' rationale doesn't cut it, either. The examples she chose were hardly analogous: The husband locked up the nomination IN MARCH, NOT JUNE, and by June, RFK had been in the race ONLY 2 or 3 MONTHS.
The clintons' fundamental error: They are too arrogant and dim-witted to understand that the demagogic process in this fiberoptic age isn't about counting spun heads. It's about not discounting circumambient brains.
Just as the clinton race card was premeditated, so too was the assassination invocation.
Listen to Gwen Ifill on 'Meet the Press':
GWEN IFILL: [N]ever talk about assassination in politics.
MAUREEN DOWD: Exactly.
MS. IFILL: Exactly. Why would you even suggest it?
And the backdrop is what's important. There's probably no one who's ever been in a room with Barack Obama at one of these huge rallies or even just seen a photograph of it where it hasn't crossed their mind, if you're of a certain age and survived and lived through these assassinations and assassination attempts.
So the question with the Clintons especially is we know that THEY ARE WORDSMITHS, that we know that they very carefully think about what it is they say. She's said this several times before.
And so you have to think what do they think people would think? We've heard her campaign spokesman say things like, you know, "Who knows what could happen?"
Thus, there is only one possible rationale: hillary clinton invoked assassination to incite some crazy racist.
Blacks used as dispensable political pawns is entirely consistent with clinton history.

"What kind of people are the clintons?"
With that post-SC clinton-race-card rhetorical question, Bob Herbert of The New York Times nailed it. What kind of people, indeed.
It is not sufficient simply to banish the clintons, as some Democrats are now urging.
The Left is beginning to understand what some of us have always known. The clintons are woefully unfit. Dangerously self-serving. Psychopathic, actually.
Rather than simply banish the clintons, it is more important--it is critical, in fact--to revisit all the charges lodged against them, charges that the Left had dismissed out of hand. We, as a country, must understand just who those two are. We must make certain, to quote clinton administration veteran Brad DeLong, that "Hillary Rodham Clinton is kept very far away from the White House for the rest of her life."
The husband, too. We will not survive another clinton. Indeed, we may yet not survive the first.
To make sure their reputation always precedes them, to make sure they are permanently wreathed in a miasma of horror, the clintons never miss an opportunity to spread the rumors around themselves. By repeating every allegation of clinton murder and mayhem—while affecting an incredulous air, of course—the clintons intimidate and silence their critics even as they marginalize the enemy. The outrageousness of the clintons' crimes, actual and apparent, will always work to the clintons' advantage, making the disabling of these flagrant psychopaths all the more challenging. But disable them we must. For the children.
So, for starters, the Left must reexamine the following:
1- The 120 redacted pages of the Barrett report.
'An abiding theme in the redacted pages, insiders say, is the Clinton camp practice of using the IRS to punish its enemies. Mr. Clinton plainly did not leave this illegal practice behind in the Oval Office. By all accounts he has maintained a tight grip on a number of government departments and agencies, notably the Justice Department and the IRS, the folks who can deal the deadliest damage.' (http://www.deletehillary.com/the_barrett_report) Also: (http://www.deletehillary.com/stalinist-rising)
2- The rape of Juanita Broaddrick by bill clinton and the threatening of her 2 weeks later by hillary. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KZ8ICvu tc0)
"There's not a sex act mentioned in the book. What is important is Hillary savaging the women." (Carl Bernstein)
3- Why the clintons ignored terrorism for their entire tenure. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35NXXg-M 46Q)
4- The death of Ron Brown.
Brown died in a plane crash mere days before he was to testify about clinton Commerce-Department corruption and, in an apparent touch of vengeful clinton 'inside-joke-ism,' mere days after he told clinton, "I will not go down alone."
Brown was alluding to fingering hillary clinton as the mastermind (so to speak) of the trade-mission-seats-for-campaign-cash illegal scheme.
Brown's conveniently fatal Croatia trip that wisked him out of the country post haste... and out of reach of the court system in perpetuity... was booked for Brown by the clintons immediately after he issued that warning.
Recall clinton's jubilant air at the Brown funeral-- jubilant until he spied the camera, that is. (http://members.aol.com/miat/clintonatbr ownsfuneral.gif)
NOTE: The call by Jesse Jackson and the Black Caucus for the required autopsy of Brown, whose head contained what a government pathologist (who voted for clinton twice, btw) said looked like a bullet hole (photo at http://www.deletehillary.com/images/r..., was hushed by a payoff made right under our collective nose: the clintons' Wall Street Project. The WSP yielded millions over the years for Jackson and his cronies.
5-And, oh yes, Rwanda. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bVrquf0 E44)

THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT? clinton legacy of lynching update
by Mia T, 7.23.05
"It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important." (Martin Luther King)
Ironically, the logic of this pronouncement by Martin Luther King would, in short order, be refuted by the reality of his own lynching. King's hope was misplaced and his reasoning was circular. The resultant rule of law relied on by King presumed an adherence to the rule of law in the first instance.
Adherence to the rule of law is not something normally associated with the clintons. Moreover, racial and ethnic disrespect, intimidation, exploitation and hate have always been a fundamental clinton tactic and the reflexive use the "N"-word and other racial and ethnic slurs, an essential element in the clinton lexicon. When the "first black president" and his wife ran Arkansas, the NAACP sued them for intimidating black voters at the polls.
Conversely, the clintons' refinement of the DNC drag and drop is, arguably, one of the more insidious and repugnant applications of their special brand of race-hate politics.
Calculating a black man's worth to be 5/3 of a vote is no less racist, and arguably more so, than calculating his worth to be 3/5 of a white man; the latter is demeaning, but the former is dehumanizing.
But it is even worse.
Listen to Randall Robinson in this video. (Indeed, listen to bill clinton in this video.) Listen... watch... read below... about Rwanda. Only one conclusion is possible: A clinton legacy of lynching.

Nuclear option
James Poulos, 5.7.08
They call it the "dream ticket" - a unity deal, brokered at the Democratic convention in Denver, Colorado, that puts both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on a bumper sticker and, hopefully, in the White House. Now that the mainstream media, Clinton's greatest ally, has finally recognised the legitimacy of Obama's triumph over her grinding and obdurate campaign, the dream ticket has lost any speculative vagueness of Beltway cocktail chat. Now, that dream is a matter of deadly seriousness - because it is now Hillary's dream, and her last remaining option. Make no mistake: going into Denver with a heap of white votes and fortified by the new power of the post-Cheney vice-presidency, Hillary Clinton intends to force her way onto the ticket. If it knows what's good for it, the Democratic party should stop her.
