I was born in Miami, Fla., to Cuban-immigrant parents. I lived there until I was nine. My family and I moved to Argentina in 1997 and stayed there until late 1998. We then moved to Puerto Rico in 1998 where we stayed until the summer of 1999. I took a strong command of written and spoken Spanish during my stint in Latin America. I also learned how to play sports that I would not have normally picked up, like soccer and rugby. In 2000, I moved back to Miami and attended Catholic elementary school and high school. After graduating from St. Brendan High School in 2005, I enrolled at the University of Florida where I set to graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree from the school's College of Journalism and Communications in the coming month. I am taking classes in online media production and reporting, speech, Portuguese and media law.

I currently work at the University of Florida Office of Web Administration. I am also a videographer and Web designer for The Independent Florida Alligator.
