Versione animata del sacro poema epico indiano "Ramayana" che narra le vicende di Rama avatar del dio Viṣṇu. Questo film è una coproduzione indo giapponese e nei suoi oltre 120min è piuttosto fedele al plot del poema, anche se ci sono piccole inesattezze. Circola anche una pessima versione del 2000 di soli 97min (Prince of Light) ottenuta dal montaggio di questa che stravolge la trama originale e la renda piu "avventura disneyana"!
