James Douglas Morrison (1943-1971) What you are about to read here in my page is the utmost admiration and undying dedication to a group that remains an undeniable presence in the music industry today and that is The Doors. For one thing, The Doors paved the way for the ethos of punk rock. I've always thought that The Doors opened the door to a certain punk-rock attitude.Whether it's in the lyrics or the stage, him getting arrested..even his death.The shock value that goes into that-that's all what makes punk rock. Not often enough, except in musical magazines, and tech heads, do people actually acknowledge that there has been no one before or after with that production that sounded anything like that. It was just super unique, which is kind of a mundane statement to make, but no one even tries to imitate it, it's just so blatantly The Doors. There was a depth and an artistic ambition to The Doors that was unique. Jim Morrison very much saw himself as a poet as opposed to a song lyricist and the band as a means of channeling visions from the dark recesses of his mind. Though the music is sometimes eclipsed by the myth that surrounds the band and their iconic lead singer, The Doors are one of the few bands that have taken there cue from psychedelic and American blues to a format, then done something with it and taken it to their own place, while being very heavily commited to it. Everything about them was and is still captivating.
