email marketing is fast emerging as the most effective Internet promotional tool. It's fast, precise, and cost-effective. Plus, it allows marketing managers to execute Internet-based promotions with unparalleled precision. With email marketing, you can deliver your message to the right target to generate high-quality traffic to your web site. The best part: you only send your message to the people who want to know more about your products and services.
As a result, this promotional tool has generated higher-than-average response rates (as high as 15 percent and even higher for some companies). Such superior response rates are due in part to two distinct characteristics of email marketing: (1) recipients have elected to receive information about specific product or service categories. This makes an audience more responsive to the marketing messages it receives. When a member decides s/he does not to receive promotional email messages anymore, s/he can simply opt-out or unsubscribe. (2) Email marketing is relatively new. The novelty effect has helped numerous marketers achieve superior returns on investments.
But the environment is changing rapidly. As the excitement for this Internet tool builds, it is rapidly joining the class of main stream marketing tools. This means recipients receive more messages every day; response rates drop. While 5 to 15 percent response rates were not unusual 24 months ago, today the average return is around 3 to 4 percent.
Nonetheless, the fact remains that email marketing still represents a cost-effective way to reach your target market. Careful planning and flawless execution can mean the difference between a 5 and 15 percent rate.

Awesome video! Israel Kamakawiwo Ole's version of Somewhere over the rainbow. You are the heart of Hawai`i
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole was bigger than life, his music reaching out to Hawaiians encouraging them to take pride in their heritage and to love and understand everyone. He was a huge man whose larger spirit wrestled with his giant physical form, and finally escaped at the age of 38, when he died on June 26, 1997.
IZ, whose parents were born on Ni'ihau, traveled throughout Hawai'i, singing about the land and the people. Though it was difficult for IZ to move during the last months of his life, he carried oxygen to keep himself going and checked in and out of the hospital between engagements. While he was resting, he communicated with his fans worldwide through his own iz.com web site and email. Each time he regained energy, Israel came out again to pack auditoriums with fans who treasured every last live performance and often sang along with him-a chorus that would fill a cathedral.
Israel's legacy is his songwriting, his recordings and his spirit, which remains with people of all ages, whom he touched with music, humor and a grace uncommon for such a talented man. As IZ told his fans on his album E Ala E, Ka puna pu'u wai o Hawai'i nei, "You are the heartbeat of Hawai'i."
