I'm Roberto, from Italy. I was born in Rome in 1962 and play guitar since 11.
I worked professionally with many cover bands and actually I'm a former of a blues-rock band named Diablo Blues Band.
FAVOURITE GUITAR PLAYERS: Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Jimmy Page, Mick Taylor, Robin Trower, Peter Green, Alvin Lee, Stan Webb, Ritchie Blackmore, Gary Moore, Mike Bloomfield, Carlos Santana, Roy Buchanan, the "Three Kings", Magic Sam and Buddy Guy but also Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, Joe Bonamassa, Warren Haynes, Tinsley Ellis, Corey Stevens, Chris Duarte and Kenny W. Shepherd.
INFLUENCES: Cream, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Beatles, Jeff Beck Group, Ten Years After, Free, John Mayall, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kansas, Deep Purple, Mountain, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf.
Rock music has thrilled me since when I was a child and soon I choosed my preferred band: Led Zeppelin.
I have constituted my first band when I was 13 and the first songs I played with a group, was "Samba Pa Ti", "Smoke On The Water", "Sultans Of Swing" and "Hotel California". Very original, it's true? ;-)))
Subsequently, I've always tried to improve my performances and in the meantime I approached to the Blues, having seen on tv a Muddy Waters concert. It was a very lightning blow! :-) I remained charmed by the charismatic figure of this great musician.
Then, I decided that with my bands I had to play the Blues, possibly....with a Fender Stratocaster in my hands! :-))) but my first electric guitar has been a Hofner that only vaguely, looking like a Strato :-)
In the same time, the british Blues was starting liking me very much and also now, my principal reference points are the great musicians of the british Blues.
An album which is gone by hundredses of times on the plate of my record player, was Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton. From that masterpiece, I've learned very much.
Other very important albums, for my musical grow, have been Fresh Cream and Disraeli Gears (Cream), Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland (J. Hendrix), Led Zeppelin I and II, Truth (J.Beck Group), Irish Tour '74 and Calling Card (R.Gallagher), A Hard Road (J.Mayall), Abraxas (Santana), Tons Of Sobs (Free), At Fillmore East and Brothers And Sisters (Allman Bros.Band), Fathers And Sons and Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live (M.Waters), The Live Adventures of Al Kooper & Michael Bloomfield, Captured Live (Johnny Winter), West Side Soul (Magic Sam), The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Texas Flood and Couldn't Stand The Weather (SRV).
I suggest, for young blues guitar players, to hear all of these records.
In the eighties, two new guitar heroes appeared to the horizon: the first was Gary Moore and the second was Stevie Ray Vaughan, therefore was always the Blues to thrill me and I continuing so, heedless of the fashions that were going and coming. Infact, I put on also a Vaughan's cover band called Cold Shot and as soon as the Fender has put the SRV Signature on the market, I have considered as fair to buy one, that remains my favourite guitar. With this guitar I have executed my best performances on stage.
However, I must say, that in 1986 I did part of a group which was calling The Mirror, with which were playing music typically eighties-style.

Generally, I like all rock music from the sixties and seventies, also hard, progressive, country and folk rock and I got a collection of almost two thousand cd, how can you see in some of my videos, from AC/DC to Z.Z.Top.
My first aim, is to gain many friendships, here on Youtube, then, I would like to improve further as guitar player, learning from the many musicians that seeing is possible to me.
I have still much to improve to me. For who it is born with a passion it cultivates, it and ago to become a profession, it's not never enough good to say to himself "ok, I'm arrived".
The trick is only one: to convince itself not to be never arrived.
From when I'm on youtube, I received many comments to my videos, some which have honoured me, indeed: "I can tell if I'm going to like a video in the first couple of seconds, and boy you caught my attention! Great phrasing, not too much, keep me interested and wanting more. I'll be tuning in to you for sure-loved it", "Really great playing-nicely understated. I really appreciate that in a player... You've obviously worked (and listened) hard. Congratulations", "Waw! Great! A real pleasure to watch you playing! Sounds really perfect! I'm impressed!".
Some days ago, a good friend wrote that "....I'm not born in Italy but in Mississippi, and I didn't know" :-)
These comments (like many others), push me to try always to do better. I hope to succeed there.
My musical thought is this: someone says that the Rock has died but I don't believe it. Long live Rock!!!
Thanks for Your attention and hope You like my next videos.

To take my videos, I utilize a foto/video camera Canon Powershot A610.

If you check my profile, there is a clapton song called Tore Down... Have a look and see what you think... I'd love to see someone of your calibre perform that... :)
