I want to dedicate this video to a great man, probably the greatest man after King Cyrus that has ever walked on the earth of Iran: Reza Shah Pahlavi I
Many people forget that Shah M.Reza Pahlavi Aryamehr wouldn't have existed without his father, our father, Reza Shah Pahlavi I.
I remember how my grand father always praised Reza Shah when he drove from Tehran to Mazenderan, saying that all roads and mountain-tunnels were constructed thanks to Reza Shah... He had built modern Iran and turned her into a strong nation.
In Iran today, even the most religious persons you might meet on the street, will give their honest respect to this great individual. Even those opposing the monarchy and the Pahlavis in general, show an enormous admiration for Reza Shah, and give him the designation "Bozorg" or "Kabir".
The fact that he wasn't born royal doesn't really matter, because he truthfully deserved his title. He was a stoic army officer of the Persian Cossack brigade (BTW, the king of Sweden is also descendent of an army officer). And some Iranians (such as Marjane Satrapi) claim that he was an "illiterate army officer", but he was honesty more forward-thinking and modern than any of the Qâjâr kings that he succeeded. Reza Shah was a noble man. And who knows, he might have been a descendent of Sassanians and Parthians that have settled all around Mâzenderân centuries ago. Growing up in a humble village in Mâzenderân province surrounded by forests, plains, mountains and the Caspian Sea, actually made him stronger than any other "candidates" to the throne.
I've heard many positive traits of this great individual. For example, Reza Shah scheduled Shâhnâme readings every evening, and he frequently shed some tears after hearing the verses. His boots were inseparable to him and he continued sleeping on a mattress of the floor of the palace. But probably the best thing he ever did was when some Imam/mullah had said something degrading towards Iranian women's emancipation, which made Reza Shah so terribly angry that he personally went to find that mullah and beat the s*** out of him with his bare hands, something that the majority of Iranians wish to do in today's Iran... lol
Needless to say that Reza Shah symbolizes the awakening of Iranian Nationalism and Patriotism, pursued by his son M.Reza Pahlavi.
For those that do not understand Persian or the symbolism behind the music of this video, the song I've chosen is "Gole Gandom" (wheat flower) and sung by another Mazenderani, singer Mâziâr. It's a peasant planting wheat seeds, expressing how the land is dear to him for his crops to grow. There is a part when he says that he will burn some Espand for chasing away "nazar" or "the evil eye", and I basically think that they* cursed Aryamehr with the "evil eye"...

A short clip of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, appearing on Meet the Press in 1973. IT'S ONLY 10 SECs LONG!! I want to get the whole thing, but need to get Meet the Press to make it available. Go to "http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032608/" and on the lower half of the page, click on the "Participate" tab under the "Explore" section. Then click on "comments?" and ask for this interview. If we get enough people making the request, they might release the video.
Meet the Press is an American show currently airing Sunday mornings on NBC. It is the longest running TV show in American television history, and recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. To mark that occaision, Meet the Press aired a montage of interviews done with notable figures, both from domestic and foreign politics.
