On April 23rd Wachovia setup some of those ridiculous wind tunnel money booth things in Linn Park in Birmingham, AL. The deal was, apparently, if you signed up for one of their "Way to Save" checking accounts, you got a chance to hop in and grab as much FAKE money as possible in 30 seconds. If you grabbed $125 worth of FAKE money, you were rewarded with $25 in ACTUAL money. Seeing as how the FAKE money was all $1's and a few $5's, this was next to impossible.
As if this isn't silly enough, our mayor, Larry Langford, decided this was a perfect opportunity to give an address on the importance of saving money. Adding to the silliness, of course, is that Larry Langford has bankrupted Jefferson County, is in the process of bankrupting the city of Birmingham, and has plenty of personal financial problems of his own.
Anyway, I felt like this would be a perfect opportunity to break out the new camera and go get some funny slow motion video. I was absolutely right.

timelapse of the intersection of US31 and I20/I59 in birmingham shot thursday evening. i started it at about 5:20, and it ran until about 6:10. there is a 3 second interval between frames, so playback is at about 70X normal speed (i think...i suck at math).
i shot a bunch of timelapse bullshit a few weeks ago, but i had underestimated the importance of leaving the shutter open for most of all of the frame interval, which makes it look more like things have actually sped up. otherwise, you just end up with a bunch of flickering objects which, while interesting, isn't nearly as cool.
of course it looks like dook on youtube.
