All the land around this area is flat, but this nice little bump appears out of nowhere and just begs to be wheelied across.
It's strange how as you're coming up to the hill really fast, your instinct is to roll the throttle off. It feels like you're going to jump it like Evel Knievel.
I didn't have a camera mount so I'm holding the camera with my left hand. That explains the camera shake and the lack of speed. If the front end should get light or actually leave the ground with only one hand on the bars, the head shake would have been horrendous.
I didn't think about putting the camera on the ground and filming one of the high speed passes with the front end wheelie-ing across the top.
When (if?!) I get a camera mount I'll film this one again at a higher rate of speed. It's a lot of fun approaching the hill at about 90+ mph. The front end comes up and the rpms raise just a bit as the rear wheel either spins or leaves the ground.
It's fun if you're in the area, but probably not worth riding for more than 30 minutes to get to it.

Our "adult supervision" had 8 pounds of military surplus gunpowder that was being saved for something deserving of a "hey yall, watch this" moment.
A few days after the 4th of July, we bought about 500 left-over sparklers from a fireworks stand. After several sparkler bombs, we decided that we could make a bigger, better bomb.
We took a large hollowed out candle, set the sparkler bomb inside and poured the 8 pounds of gunpowder around the sparklers.
Our youngest adventure seeker (the young one's heal faster) took command of the lighter- with no arguement from the rest of us- and set it off.
Just in case we needed video for reconstructive surgery, or for insurance purposes, we put one of our more responsible adults (yeah, right!) in charge of documenting this historic event with the video camera.

Unless you're from Paragould and remember the big centential celebration, this video won't mean anything to you. In fact, it's boring. I only shot the video as a possible last glimpse at it, just in case it means nothing to the new owners and it is "lost".
The building will close in mid May 2008 and will be sold. As of May 1, 2008, the mural was still on display.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert on recreational tree climbing.
I'm posting this video to try to help other climbers reduce the amount of time involved in setting a climbing line in a tree that they climb regularly. There's also a tip to help reduce the amount of dirt and debris that your climbing line come into contact with.
Hope you enjoy the tips.

Erin doing a bit of recreational tree climbing in our back yard on a nice Autumn afternoon.
For this climb she's using 150' of Blue Streak- our favorite arborist rope, a leather cambium saver, and a New Tribe tree climbing saddle. Don't start preaching about helmets and gloves. We have them but she didn't have either on for this video. Bad habit, we know.
It's not obvious from the video, but she's using a Blakes Hitch friction knot with a figure-8 stopper. In most of the video she has the figure-8 flipped up out of her way and that's the reason that the friction knot looks weird.
If you're a recreational tree climber in the Paragould area, drop us a note.

Bagnell Dam and Lake Ozark, MO are both interesting places so I decided to share a short video with you.
Bagnell Dam is VERY narrow and has a curve in each end. So, what's a guy to do but film it while crossing it on a motorcycle, while holding the video camera.
Lake Ozark was a popular tourist area in the 1960's. It's still a popular spot, but "the strip" hasn't changed much. They still have two "Muffler Men", a Half-Wit and an Indian Chief, waving to each other on opposite sides of the street. They also still have the Dogpatch store, a few "Old Time Photo" joints, various shops and 10 cent SkeeBall.
It's worth spending some time in this little town if you're in the area. It's fun to reminiscence about your childhood and a simpler time.

Located in Brownsville, TN. This is a rough edit of the video that I took on 9-23-07 of Billy Tripp's amazing work of art. Started in 1989, this work of art will surely continue to change and grow until he dies.
Upon his death, he has requested to be buried underneath the Mind Field.
Tripp's Mind Field is definitely worth a roadtrip to see.

Chase is about to replace his rear tire and we hate throwing away good rubber. So, what to do but get every ounce of good from the old tire that we can. Too bad there weren't any Golfers trying to tee off over on the golf course that afternoon.
