I'm too honest for my own good.



Due to volume of questions received regarding why I am having gastric bypass surgery 3 years after having lapband surgery, I have come up the following summary of MY issues:

1) If you are a nervous eater or a grazer then lapband may not help you much. Unless, you are willing to stick with a very strict diet. I am a stress eater and a grazer. I lost 40 lbs and have gained almost all of it back. I didn't stick to the diet. I take full responsibility for the failure.
2) I had pain from the port. The area around it is tender and sometimes swells. But most importantly, I have a family history of Autoimmune disease, if you do PLEASE don't have lapband. I was never told until after the surgery, patients with a personal or family history of Autoimmune disease should not have the surgery. I have now developed an Autoimmune disease. We can't prove that the band caused it, but it isn't helping.
