Ali Campbell has one of the UK's most distinctive and recognisable voices.

As lead singer with the world-renowned group UB40, Ali Campbell has sold over 60 million records worldwide, toured across the globe, notched up four number No. 1 world-wide singles, over 40 Top 40 UK singles, released 18 studio albums and received an Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement. At this years Grammy awards UB40 were nominated for best reggae album, for their most recent album released in 2006.

A whole generation has grown up listening to Ali's infectious vocals on classics like "One in Ten", "Red Red Wine", "Don't Break My Heart" and "Can't Help Falling In Love". Ali has stayed true to his love of reggae and its ongoing capacity for innovation. The music that first inspired him continues to do so to this day.

Ali's solo album 'Running Free' was released in October 2007 and went in at number 9 in the Uk charts and has since achieved gold status.

'Running Free', the new album from UB40's frontman Ali Campbell, is a reggae-soul-pop tour de force. It features The World's Greatest Rhythm Section, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, collaborations with some legendary singers and musicians, several sublime cover versions, and the unique voice and songwriting excellence of Mr Red Red Wine himself.

Each track, recorded at Jamaica's Anchor studio and Eden in West London, is filled with melodic delights. There's the version of Johnny Nash's 1968 Top 5 hit, 'Hold Me Tight', whose infectious skank has already been wowing audiences across Europe. 'I'll Be Standing By', a cover of the Al Green song, features guest vocals from Lemar and is another superb example of lilting Lovers Rock, the contrast between the sweet vocals and tuff beats, making this one of many contenders for single release on 'Running Free'.

"There was no compromise." says Ali of 'Running Free' and the sense of freedom he enjoyed during recording. "I was in control. In fact, I haven't been this excited about a record since 'Labour Of Love'.

Ali has been invited by the 'Nelson Mandela Foundation' to appear at one of the events, in Germany on July 12th, celebrating Nelson Mandela's Birthday and in conjunction with one of the foundation's major campaigns, Goal 4 Africa.

Ali has recorded a new version of 'Many Rivers to Cros's with world famous South African choir, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, as the official anthem for Goal 4 Africa, a CD/DVD of the anthem and event will be onsale later this year world wide, to raise funds for the campaign and Ali will be appearing together with Ladysmith Black Mambazo and several other international artists, at the global event, being held at the Allianz Stadium in Munich, Germany, on July 12th.

This event will also have a live TV broadcast to over 40 countries, including, Uk, Europe, Africa, Russia, and the USA.

The global kick off event, is the start of a 2 year campaign, which leads up to the World Cup Final, being held in South Africa in 2010 and is one of the initiatives which the foundation have started, to attempt to fulfill Nelson Mandela's dream of a legacy of improved education for all, in Africa.

The event will consist of a football match played in the stadium with 20 of the world's greatest players taking part, including, Ronaldo, Drogba ( the list will be released ) followed by a concert featuring Ali and Ladysmith Black Mambazo and international artists to be announced.
