OK, I tend to stay in hotels a lot, and there are some things that drive me nuts with their design.
1) Can they install a shower in such a way that the screen actually seals and doesn't flood the bathroom?
2) What's with windows from the bedroom into the bathroom?!! When is that a good idea?!
I demonstrate issue number 2 with my able assistant, the very cool EmmyPirate.
I happen to have been working on a job in her home town this weekend, so we decided to meet up for a micro-gathering.
There may be more footage from the meetup posted at a later date, but this one was quick & easy to edit!
The fact that we wound up getting to meet up is a testament to the YouTube Community. It is very much alive and well.

Oh, and the bit where I say 'this is the only bathroom in the place' is a total lie. It's a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite that I got upgraded to, but they said if I used the 2nd rooms, I'd be hit with a $100 cleaning fee. Nice.

OK, so when I make a quick video with no plot to show someone I usually just set it to Private and show the intended person and a few others that I think might be interested.
This video falls neatly into that category, but koalas are so damn cute that I figure I'll want to show too many people.
The background is that I was at my parent's place last night and the drive home takes me right past a wildlife sanctuary. I'd told Callie I was going to photograph some owls for her, but while I was there, I took a bunch of footage of various Australian animals.
The other day, Ash (ThreeOfThree) was saying how much she liked koalas, so I thought I'd throw together the raw footage of ones they had out for feeding and petting.
In this State, you aren't allowed to hold the koalas generally, but they'll let you touch these ones.
Knowing me, it'll take me a year to post the other footage, so I thought I'd get this up straight away.

Funny - I just looked up the Wiki article and it says of the koala "Its species name, cinereus, is Latin and means 'ash-coloured.'"

WATCH IN HQ SO YOU CAN READ STUFF!
Watch as four Australians mercilessly rip on a small German village that never did us any harm, but was too funny to miss.
Welcome to beautiful Wank, Germany.
Passing nearby on the Christmas 2007 road trip, we just had to do a quick detour to check this out, and it seems, to practice our Beavis and Butt-head impersonations. If you're a fan of 'That's what she said' humour, then this is the place for you.
If you want to do a world tour of rude place names, here's a good website to start on: http://www.i-r-genius.com/rudeplaces.html
Here's the car, just for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peugeot_106
I'd like to apologise to my family and friends, and the residents of Wank. I just wish I knew what the right thing to call them was...
I sincerely hope this is the most childish video I ever make.

[EDITED INFO]
Right!! That's it!!!
This video was originally posted just to make a point, but the pent up 'I want to make a video of my cat but I don't know how it will be received' tension is driving me nuts!
I draw a line in the sand - and call for responses. It's kitties at ten paces. Do your worst.
Post your cat video as a response to this one, and we'll ALL get it out of our systems!! Everyone is welcome to participate.
For the record, this is Sensei and she is a Domestic Shorthair.
[EDITED EDITED INFO]
It turns out that just changing this to Public means that it comes up on notifications three weeks down the list, so I've re-uploaded it. Sorry for any confusion to anybody following the link off the bulletin, or with hassles created by multiple uploads while I've been struggling with the system.
[ORIGINAL INFO]
Just to prove to some people *cough* that it's OK to post kitty videos (OK, so it's on Private, but whatever) I thought I'd upload this video of the cat I was cat-sitting recently. (It is my girlfriend's cat, but not my apartment.)
The cat tends to 'mew' instead of miaow, and you can get it to do it on each stroke if you get the right spot!
The cat is massively unimpressed with me in this video because I've packed up my stuff around it, and am about to leave the house for the last time - hence the biteyness.

More late videos from Christmas in Germany! Yay! (Damn - once again, no good icon.)
OK, this was taken Christmas night 2007 and is a companion video to 'Walk to Switzerland'. It is filmed at the same house, the night before the walk.
Several years ago, when my brother and I were sharing an apartment, a work colleague of his said his younger brother was coming to study in Australia for a year, and could we put him up while he sorted himself out? This started off a huge friendship, and he said 'If you're ever in Germany...' - as you do.
I don't think he _quite_ expected four of us to show up at his parent's place on Christmas Day seven years later, but they are one of those wonderful families where 'the more the merrier' applies, and they are only too pleased to have LOTS of visitors.
I won't identify them here, but they are some of the most wonderful people in the world and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for opening their home to strangers.
Oh! The video! Right. What we have here is a Feuerzangenbowle (literally fire-tongs punch) a traditional German drink, closest to Glühwein. Most of it is explained in the video, and Wiki will show you the rest below. It is quite traditional, and has a sort of a cult following due to a movie (Die Feuerzangenbowle) which is played every Christmas.
WIKI!!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feuerzangenbowle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulled_wine I can't post the direct link to the article on 'Punch' as a drink here because of the way the hyperlink is written. Go to this one and click on Punch (drink): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch

OK, next in the series of videos from Christmas in Germany!
There's no real plot to this, just a bunch of Australians walking through some fields, but as someone that lives on an island, the idea that you could walk across an international border is totally alien. When we say 'overseas' we mean it literally.
Hmmm - think of it as a vicarious travel experience rather than a story.
The village we start off from is Schlatt am Randen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and (I think) the Swiss village is Barzheim.
Sorry - no Wiki for this one. These are teeny tiny villages!

OK, this is the first in a series of videos that I filmed around Christmas in Europe and haven't got around to editing yet.
This is the wildly inaccurately named German Lessons 2. Inaccurately named, because while I learn a ton of German in it, I don't teach you guys any, and because in the video I refer to it as German Lessons 1. I had intended to post this before the other German Lessons video, but Kiwi's earlier one presented too good an opportunity.
The town is Neustadt an der Weinstraße in the South-West of Germany. The 'Castle' in the opening shots is Haardter Schloß, in the village of Haardt. The market I walk through is the annual Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market).
I guess you can think of this video as a Lesson on Germany. There - that makes more sense.

[More Edited Info]
OK, this was posted a couple of months ago as a private video. I want to show it to a few more people, but YouTube has locked the 'Friends' list on it. Rather than re-uploading it, it's easier to set it to 'Public' - sorry if you've already seen it. More original content VERY soon.
[Edited Info]
Once again, a video had no intention of making before being prompted. Hey, who knew Jen likes stuff from Germany?! ;)
It was made as a private video for her first, but now she's seen it, I thought I'd throw it open to the usual suspects so you don't think I'm being too lazy with my videos! ;)
This was taken in July 2007 in a huge forest near where I was staying in Germany. It was before I started filming for YouTube, so it is just a bunch of stills, but you can see the prototype filming for what became my 'Walk to the Beach' video.
Sorry there's no real plot, but it was a weird mix of serene and scary as I walked deeper into the forest with no idea where I was going. The music actually nails the feeling quite well, and was exactly the length of the video, with no planning!
Oh, keep an eye out for the random stone ring in the forest at 0:24!
Ash, I guess you could view this as a response to your one in the park the other day!
[Original Info]
As promised, I walk a mile into the forest that backs on to Gimmeldingen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.
I hope you like it ;)

[Edit - You can put the above addresses into Babelfish's page translator - it's rubbish, but gives a rough idea. It does notably mis-translate Weinstraße (Wine Road) as Weinst Raße (Crying Race). Stupid typing monkeys.] http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Another day in the life...
Some friends invited me to come for a fly with them. It hadn't even occurred to me to film it until it was suggested (OK, shouted) by Ash & Jen during an MSN chat. http://au.youtube.com/user/ThreeofThree http://au.youtube.com/user/TheRavenOfPoe
The Flight:
Bankstown Airport, NSW, Australia (YSBK) to Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park, NSW, Australia (YWOL) Flight time: 0.4 Hrs (24 mins) Conditions: VFR (Visual Flight Rules) Altitude: 2000 feet (610 m)
The Aircraft:
Express S2000 Registration: VH-MWD Category: Experimental (Amateur Built) Engine: Teledyne Continental Motors IO-550-N 550 cubic inch (9.0 litre) 310 BHP 6 cylinder horizontally opposed air-cooled Propeller: mt-propeller MTV-14-D/188-119 4 blade composite constant speed
Although I'm rated for this aircraft, I hadn't flown it before, so I was only flying during the cruise, and had my hands too full to film most of the time. I am however at the controls flying over the bushland at 5:48 and crossing the coast at 5:58.
The unusual choice of music was inspired (OK, stolen) from the introduction to the anime movie Appleseed. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=TJbwNHOrP_s
