Fourth And Expected Value

The DNA of this channel is to view the NFL through the lens of a Front Office. Unlike other channels that give you hot takes and fire off evaluations about players and teams, my goal is to show you how professional sports teams think and how decisions get made. All decisions have uncertainty, but the goal is to limit the uncertainty while maximizing the expected value of an event.

I work for an MLB Front Office as an Analyst in Research and Development, Player Development, and Player Acquisition. I will use some of the insights I’ve learned and apply it to the NFL using publicly available data that anyone can access. My hope is to try and uncover the why behind certain aspects of the game whether it’s coaching strategy, player performance, or roster management. There are a lot of things I don’t know, but as we go through this process, I hope to provide you with useful information while also challenging beliefs and hypothesis.
