Butterflies in Joplin

Butterflies in Joplin formed in 2026, is the independent project of Texas-based producer and songwriter Michael Forsythe, — blending deathcore, post-hardcore, metalcore, industrial textures and alternative R&B into something bleak, volatile, and melodic.

The sound moves between frantic blast beats, dissonant guitars, low-tuned grooves, suffocating breakdowns, wounded clean vocals, gutturals, high screams, and sing-screamed hooks. Songs can turn from intimate and melodic to violent without warning, balancing rhythmic bounce with raw, abrasive production and a constant sense that everything is about to come apart.

The result is heavy music built around contrast—catchy but hostile, vulnerable but ugly, cinematic without losing the grime.
