Cartographics

Cartographics craft immersive, improvised landscape-soundscapes from scrolls painted by leader Kirsten Freiesleben. Merging Western jazz, international folk instruments and found sound, the ensemble collaboratively translates these graphic scores into deeply emotional sonic journeys. Rooted in connection—both within the group and the audience—our performances traverse tranquil, meditative, and exuberant terrains, unified by an infusion of joy. As a band we strive for creative growth, deep connection and shared joy. Our vision is to communicate and engage audiences with our unique methodology through both performance and engagement.
