Filmmaking with Brass Knuckles

The Emmy-winning blog “Screenwriting from Iowa...and Other Unlikely Places” was something I starting in 2008 to curate what I think is the best screenwriting and filmmaking advice over the last 100+ of global cinematic history. You’ll find over 3,000 blog posts there. In 2020, The book "Screenwriting with Brass Knuckles” flowed out of the blog. Filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (”A Quiet Place”) wrote the introduction. When I was in film school (way back when students only shot film) it was hard to gain insights from working professionals. The internet has changed that, but now there's too much information. What I'm trying to do here is crystalize essential filmmaking and storytelling concepts in a YouTube friendly format. Ideally these videos will help you in creating your own own projects and appreciation of the filmmaking process.

I hope I can help you on your creative journey.
