Mikhail Ilyin

Mikhail Ilyin's musical activity began in the early 1990s with experimental electroacoustic formations, developing for nearly two decades across ambient, electro, and pure experimentation.

A cross-disciplinary explorer, his work fuses genres, technologies, and disciplines, dissolving boundaries between analog and digital, art and life. His current work unites an in-depth study of the European musical tradition, from folk to classical music, through the transformations of tonal language, with a constant exploration of new approaches to sound, where digital culture becomes a terrain for investigating spatiality and the unforeseen possibilities of sonic matter.

A self-taught musician, his research is also intellectual and philosophical: music as a discipline of the spirit. Expressiveness and improvisation intertwine to generate sonorities that are simultaneously archaic and contemporary.
