Sakthi Institute of Teacher Education and Research is a constituent unit of Sowdamman Charitable Trust, Oddanchatram. Sowdamman Charitable Trust was established on 26.11.2001 by the munificence and single minted development of the farsighted and noble hearted philanthropists Dr.Vembanan, M.B.B.S, M.S., and Dr.V.Gokila Vembanan, M.B.B.S, DGO., with the guidance of Padmabhushan Arutchelver Dr.N.Mahalingam.

Sakthi Institute of Teacher Education and Research is located at Sakthi Nagar, Dindigul – Palani Main Road, Palakkanuthu (Po), Oddanchatram (T.K),Dindigul (Dt) at about 10 Kilometers from Oddanchatram and about 20 kilometers from Dindigul Town on the NH 209 Dindigul – Palani Main Road. Situated within that rain shadow valley between the Thevar malai hills on the north and Kodai and Palani hills in the west, the place enjoy a salubrious climate with stimulation for carrier.
