Star Wars Rom Com: DARTH VADER: LOVE IN THE DEATH STAR Logline: After years of galactic conquest and Force-choking, Darth Vader finds his rigid routine disrupted by a charming, free-spirited Rebel botanist who accidentally lands on the Death Star, forcing him to confront the one thing more terrifying than the Emperor: his own heart. Characters: * DARTH VADER: The Dark Lord of the Sith. Still menacing, but with a hidden yearning for connection. * ELARA VANCE: A brilliant, quirky Rebel botanist. Sees the good in everything, even a Sith Lord. * GRAND MOFF TARKIN: Vader's perpetually exasperated second-in-command. * C-3PO: A protocol droid, ever-anxious. * R2-D2: An astromech droid, resourceful. * STORM TROOPERS: Numerous, easily flustered. Scene 1 INT. DEATH STAR - VADER'S COMMAND BRIDGE - DAY The vast, sterile bridge hums with the low thrum of the Death Star. Stars twinkle menacingly outside the panoramic viewscreen. DARTH VADER stands, cape billowing, overseeing a fleet of Star Destroyers. GRAND MOFF TARKIN approaches, looking weary. TARKIN > Lord Vader, another Rebel outpost eradicated. The Emperor will be pleased. Vader lets out his signature, heavy breath. VADER > (Deep, resonant) > Pleasure is a fleeting emotion, Tarkin. Like a star dying in the void. Tarkin sighs almost imperceptibly. TARKIN > Right. Well, speaking of voids, we have a… peculiar prisoner. A Rebel scout ship, veered off course, crashed into Sector Gamma-7. She claims to be a botanist. VADER > (Turns slowly) > A botanist? What use is a flower-tender to the Rebellion? TARKIN > She was carrying… exotic plant samples. And a rather large, enthusiastic vine. It's currently attempting to redecorate Cell Block AA-23. Vader pauses. A flicker of something unreadable behind his mask. VADER > Bring her to me. Tarkin raises an eyebrow, then nods. Scene 2 INT. DEATH STAR - VADER'S PRIVATE CHAMBERS - LATER Vader's chambers are stark, minimalist. A single, imposing chair, a control panel. The door hisses open. Two Stormtroopers escort ELARA VANCE, a young woman with bright, curious eyes and dirt smudges on her cheek. She clutches a small, potted plant. ELARA > (Looking around, impressed) > Oh, wow. It's so… metallic. And spacious! You could fit so many terrariums in here. The Stormtroopers exchange confused glances. Vader looms. VADER > (Force-choking gesture, then stops himself) > You are Elara Vance, a Rebel sympathizer. Your ship trespassed on Imperial territory. ELARA > (Beaming) > Oh, I am! And it was a complete accident, I swear! My astrogation droid, R2-D2, was having a bit of a… spat with C-3PO over the optimal humidity for my Glimmerbloom here. (She gestures to the plant) It prefers a slightly drier climate, you see, but C-3PO insists on a more tropical setting for his circuits, and well, one thing led to another and we ended up here! Vader stares. His breathing apparatus seems to stutter for a moment. VADER > You… crashed a starship over a plant's humidity? ELARA > (Nods earnestly) > Precisely! It's a delicate balance, Lord Vader. Life, you know? It finds a way. Even in the cold vacuum of space. Vader slowly walks around her, his cape swishing. Elara doesn't flinch. VADER > You speak of life. I bring death. ELARA > (Tilts her head) > Do you, though? Or do you just… prune? Sometimes, a good pruning is necessary for new growth. Like when I trim back the Sky-Vine Creepers on Alderaan. They look scary, but they make the most beautiful flowers if you just give them a chance. Vader stops. The word "Alderaan" hangs in the air. VADER > Alderaan… is gone. ELARA > (Softly) > Not entirely. Its spirit lives on in every seed, every sprout. You can't truly destroy life, Lord Vader. You can only… change its form. Vader is silent for a long moment. He looks at the Glimmerbloom. VADER > What is that… thing? ELARA > This? This is a Glimmerbloom! It glows faintly when it's happy. See? (She holds it up. It emits a tiny, almost imperceptible shimmer.) It just needs a little sunlight, or perhaps some… Force energy? I've heard the Force can do wonders for plant growth! Vader extends a gloved hand. The Glimmerbloom glows a little brighter. Elara gasps. ELARA > Oh my goodness! You do have a green thumb! Or, well, a black glove, but the intention is there! Vader quickly retracts his hand. VADER > Take her to a more… suitable holding cell. One with a window. Tarkin, who has entered silently, nearly chokes on air.
