American Adventures in Japan

Exploring Japan one trail at a time — from hidden mountain paths to iconic peaks. Join us for hiking, van life adventures, and scenic journeys with our three dogs.

Hi, I’m Ryan! I’ve been in Japan since 1996—yes, last century! Living here for so long has given me a unique perspective on life and culture.

I created this channel to share my love for exploring Japan’s hidden gems, perfect for weekend adventures and discover Japan and van camping on a tight budget. No long-winded explanations here (sometimes… ok, more often than not), just a quick taste of amazing places so you can go out and enjoy them yourself.

Joining me on these adventures are my three dogs—Bobbi, Lily, and Lucy—riding along in our trusty 2006 Toyota Alphard converted to a stealth camping van. They love the journey as much as the destinations!
