Zainab Wadood | Visible ≠ Seen

Born deaf. Unseen for 24 years.

I grew up severely deaf, lip-reading my way through school, friendships and work, and nobody knew until I was 24. People read my missed cues as slow, rude, strange or uninterested.

Visible ≠ Seen is a series of one-minute animated films about those moments: what I missed, what people thought they saw, and what was really happening.

Every deafness is different. Some of us sign, some of us lip-read, and many of us are simply misread. These films are for anyone who has been misunderstood, and for the teachers, managers, parents and friends who want to see people more clearly.

New film every week.
