Welcome to A Tale of Two Estates in central Rochdale. The true story of the Save the Seven Sisters Campaign and Save our Homes, Lower Falinge and the support of Greater Manchester Tenants Union.  

We see it as an accurate archive and sign of Hope to others fighting to save their Homes.

2017 saw the start of a battle against regeneration, a word that can mean social displacement; the breakup of communities; removing people from settled homes; physical and mental health impacts on people who find they’re in a battle for housing justice against a rogue social housing provider.

Similar stories play out across the country as developers regenerate or gentrify areas with buzzword names of Quarter or Gateway. They use broken record mantras like ‘a better mix of homes for current and future residents’ yet want current residents gone. 

There’s a human cost as shiny new buildings rise and you read how many new homes have been built. But how many were destroyed and how many people displaced.
