Conisbrough UK Town of Culture 2028

Conisbrough is a town where history doesn’t just reside in the past, it is etched into the skyline by our magnificent 11th Century Castle. Our bid for UK Town of Culture 2028 is more than a campaign, it’s a declaration. We are a community forged from the white stone of our castle and the deep-rooted coal of the Collieries.

From the legends that inspired Ivanhoe to the tireless resilience of our industrial heritage, our story is a masterclass in northern grit and creative grace. We have always been a place of makers, dreamers, and doers. This bid is fuelled by a "stubborn optimism" the same determination that built our streets and sustains our spirit today. Conisbrough isn’t just looking back at its glory, we are claiming our seat at the cultural table. We have the heart, the heritage, and the fire to show the world that our town is ready to shine.
