Five Marys Ranch

Ranch School lessons, recipes, and real ranch life from Five Marys Ranch in Scott Valley, California.

I’m Mary Heffernan. My husband Brian and I raise cattle and pigs on our ranch in Fort Jones, harvest and butcher them in our own USDA facility, and ship beef direct to families all over the country. We’re raising four daughters here too, which is how M5 Ranch School came to be.

Every week I share a full Ranch School lesson: real skills from a real ranch, made for kids and families who want to learn how things actually work. All About Chickens. Making Maple Syrup. Candle Making. Butchery. Forty lessons, each with a printable worksheet pack you can grab at fivemarys.com.

In between you’ll find what we cook, what the girls are up to with their horses, and the honest day to day of running a family ranch and a small business from a small town.

New lesson every Thursday. Worksheets, recipes, and our beef at fivemarys.com.
