Homegrown Urban Homestead

We're Anna and Andrew — and together with our three little ones, we're a family of five living on a suburban block in the Adelaide foothills on Kaurna Land, trying to figure out how to feed our family better, spend less, and rely on the supermarket a little less each season.

We have rising grocery bills, and a backyard we're slowly turning into something that actually works for us.

This channel is our honest record of what's growing, what's failing, what it actually costs, and whether any of this is worth it for a regular Australian family.

We're not experts. We're just doing it anyway — chickens, veggie beds, food preservation, and everything in between — in a temperate South Australian climate that most homesteading content rarely covers.
If you're an Australian trying to grow more of your own food, cut costs, or just feel a bit more prepared for whatever's coming — you're in the right place.
