Intro to Materials Science--Guided Inquiry (UVa)

These "Materials Challenge Videos" (MCV) are produced as team projects in Prof. Floro's MSE 2090 course - Introduction to the Science and Engineering of Materials, at the University of Virginia.  The videos are meant to be 8 minute-long overviews of some key technology or technological challenge where a material is critical to the success (or failure!) of the application.  A good MCV is required to clearly define the challenge, identify the material of interest, then clearly show how the processing-structure-properties relationship is crucial to developing the best possible material for the application of interest. These videos are learning projects, and hence will contain misconceptions and errors. But they have value to the students who produce them, in terms of retention of key concepts, and connecting coursework in Materials Science to issues they care about in life. As you will see, production values vary, but we hope you find value in these as well.
