The Faces of Care with Mary Griffin-Porter

I have made this channel to raise awareness of the antiquated rules that are put upon unpaid carers in the UK.
I am a carer to my 44 year old son Daniel. He got brain damaged by a hospital blunder when he was one year old. He has been left totally dependent on me. He is not safe to leave alone so I am with him for over 100 hours a week, usually it’s 138 hours a week. Carers Allowance is 386.45 a week so that just 63p an hour. I have started a UK Government petition to reform some of the rules they enforce on carers. One is we can’t earn more than £204 in a week without losing the whole £86.45! We can’t claim a state pension and still get carers allowance!  Both of these scenarios we’d still be doing the caring so what numpty thinks that fair?!
