Michikusa Monogatari | Slow Travel Japan

"Michikusa" means taking the scenic route — wandering, and finding the unexpected along the way.

I travel around Japan looking for the places tour buses never reach. Hidden gems in rural Japan: mountain trails, roadside stations (michi-no-eki), local onsen & sento, countryside festivals, and whatever I find on the way.

Japan has so much more than the famous spots. Small towns, quiet corners, things you'd walk right past if you weren't looking. That's what I want to show you.

No luxury, no rush, no big budget. Just slow roads and small discoveries.

I've completed all 100 Mountains of Tohoku (2015) and climbed 70 of Japan's 300 Famous Mountains.

――――
