National Black Movie Association

The National Black Movie Association exists to ensure Black stories, voices, and experiences are amplified and presented with integrity and respect in the film industry. By advocating for equity and diversity, the NBMA is creating a more inclusive media environment that benefits the next generation of content creators, audiences, and the broader entertainment industry.

The film industry has been dominated by perspectives that do not accurately reflect and represent Black culture, having a profound impact on the next generation of visual storytellers and storywatchers. The National Black Movie Association believes cinema is a powerful medium that can bring about social change and positive representation for underrepresented and marginalized communities, however, the shift in storytelling for the next generation begins with education.
