Northland Therapeutic Riding Center

Northland Therapeutic Riding Center is a nonprofit 501(c) organization with a mission to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and special needs through therapeutic horseback riding.

Through riding, there is a healing interaction between the horse, rider, and volunteer. Riding encourages: cognitive activity, sensory integration, correct muscle tone, gross and fine motor skills, increased physical stamina, proper posture, independence, social skills, emotional stability, vocalization, and smiles. Riding a horse can create dramatic and lasting benefits. Therapeutic Riding offers people with special needs a chance to learn confidence, leadership, companionship, and responsibility.

The organization needs 100 volunteers who serve as trained horse leaders, supporters for individual riders and to groom and feed horses.
