Susan J Art | New Zealand Nature Artist

Welcome to my studio, inspired by the sea.

I’m Sue Lockett, a New Zealand artist painting the coast, native birds, and the subtle patterns of the natural world in acrylic. Here you’ll find the process behind my original paintings, the stories that inspire them, and the quiet moments of nature that shape my work.

From pohutukawa and tides to tui and kowhai, changing skies, clouds over the sea, and coastal landscapes, my art is about connection to place, memory, and the beauty we often walk past.

If you love nature, native birds, coastal art, and watching an acrylic painting come to life, you’re in the right place.

New videos share painting progress, studio life, behind the scenes art process, and the inspiration behind my original artworks and art prints.
