The Broketographer is a photography channel about making meaningful images with old cameras, cheap gear, expired film, and desert dust.

I’m JT Evans, a photographer based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I work with film, old digital cameras, black-and-white photography, desert landscapes, family-history projects, photo books, and the kind of cameras most people overlook until they start making something honest.

This channel is part camera walk, part budget gear test, part film experiment, and part creative field journal. You’ll find expired film, caffenol developing, vintage cameras, old DSLRs, black-and-white editing, photo book projects, and honest photography talk from the rougher edge of the process.

Call it dirtbag photography if you want: imperfect tools, practical choices, desert miles, and the belief that meaningful photographs do not need perfect conditions to exist.
