The Freak & the Puppet

The Freak & The Puppet is an alternative indie rock band from Costa Rica born from a rejection of modern conformity. Their music explores identity, pressure, and the struggle between being who you are and who society expects you to be. Blending raw guitars, catchy melodies, and driving pop-punk-influenced drums with emotional intensity, the band explores the quiet danger of abandoning one’s true identity along the way.

Formed by Costa Rican songwriter Esteban Araya, the project has evolved into a full band and a carefully constructed artistic universe where music, visuals, and concept move together. With a debut album already recorded, mixed, and mastered, and a series of live sessions and performances to support it, The Freak & The Puppet is not just a band — it is a statement: a voice for those who don’t fit in, and refuse to.
