This Channel is a key tool for us to address the dimension of incarceration in Brazil through the presentation of global comparative research on this phenomenon, which is the result of the intensification of social control of bodies and individuals in an attempt to maintain public order, which in turn controls specific social subjects, based on the selection of a profile.
UbuntuCast Mama Thula is a collective of black people whose proposal is to debate mass incarceration on a global scale based on academic research and empirical experiences. In this sense, the main objective is to discuss the consequences and increase in social vulnerability, through digital media. We thus aim to democratize access to official data on criminal policies and institutional practices of penal control and selectivity that result in overincarceration.
