The Centre for Oriental Studies at the University of Tartu has a rich history dating back to 1956, when it began as a centre for teaching Asian languages. Over time, it has transformed into a research-focused institution dedicated to exploring Asian cultures. We conduct in-depth research into Asian languages, societies, and cultures. Through our academic initiatives, we aim to unravel the complexities and diversity of Asia, fostering a deeper understanding of this dynamic region.
