BLVQ IRIS

Rapper, producer, songwriter, and entrepreneur, BLVQ IRIS is a rising voice in Cape Town’s hip-hop scene. Inspired by Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, and South African legends ProKid and AKA, she blends dark trap with alternative R&B, weaving English, isiXhosa, and Afrikaans into sharp, introspective, and socially defiant lyrics. Her sound reflects Cape Town’s multicultural landscape, setting her apart from the current wave of female emcees. Tracks like Lucid Walk and iXesha introduced her as a fearless storyteller, while her 2024 single Zaza showed an evolution toward lush R&B textures, drawing comparisons to ’90s Missy Elliott.

Multilingual, entrepreneurial, and rooted in activism, BLVQ IRIS is building a career on her own terms—one that fuses personal expression with cultural commentary and positions her as one of the most compelling new voices in South African hip-hop.
