I’m Scott, a 28-year-old owner of a 53-year-old car built, not bought. My journey began when I discovered an MG as a barn find in my partner’s nan’s garage. She was grieving the loss of her husband, who had bought the car as a hobby project, but it had been left untouched for 20 years.

Determined to get it back on the road, I took it on as a passion project, teaching myself as I went. Long story short, I succeeded, and she later gifted the car to us. It became our daily ‘driver’ until the flood hit, wiping out two years of work overnight. Rather than dwelling on the setback, I got straight back to work, continuing to document my second rebuild on social media.

Now, with a temporary gold-seal engine fitted and a visit to the tuners booked, I’m preparing to put the car to the ultimate test: a cross-Europe drive through France, stopping in Le Mans, Bordeaux and San Sebastián before finishing in Barcelona.
