Kevin Barry Memorial Committee Finglas

There are 8 areas within our community of Finglas West which are named after different Irish Patriots (Barry, Casement, Clancy, Clune, McKee, McKelvey, Mellows, Plunkett).

In 2020 as a way of commemorating the life of Kevin Barry, we formed our committee on the centenary year of his execution with the goal of creating a piece of public art in his likeness to compliment his memory.

This is our second public art project under the guidance of Liam Mellows Memorial Committee

The Kevin Barry Memorial Committee is a sub committee of the LMMC follow us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/kevinbarryfinglas/

In our opening episode we meet the artist we have chosen to undertake the commission from the people of Finglas for a statue of Kevin Barry.

There has been less of a focus on the life of Kevin Barry, we seek to showcase his sporting and academic pursuits in his short life in the depiction of him in this piece.
