2022- The greatest thing I've ever been is a Dad. I lost my Son to the long-term effects of cancer treatment in 2016. He was the greatest and strongest human I have ever known. He originally had cancer at age 3, and while most kids that had that level of cancer and treatment rarely survived beyond 5 years, he survived 20. Aza was brilliant, charming, disarming, and a thousand other qualities the world is lesser without. He and I were literally best friends his entire life, we were each other's first choice in who to hang out with. Aza's final stand was 7 months in the hospital battling schlerosing cholangitis and organ failure, in that time he seldom complained and was kind and generous to the medical staff that took care of him and fell in love with him. As a surviving parent, facing my own health and disability issues, what good I can still do in this world I will always attribute in part to Aza. Without him, I would not have many of the better qualities that I have today.
