Christine Hales Icons

Creating Contemporary Icons based on the Byzantine Tradition of iconography. There are so many beautiful icons from the past centuries and these are the ones we study when we begin to learn about how to paint icons. But once we are familiar with how to create icons- and this can take many years of practice and prayer, we can begin to ask ourselves, "How can I create icons that are relevant and engaging for my church and community?"
This process of illustrating stories from the Bible, when correctly translated into Byzantine iconography, become mini visual sermons that can inspire and bring spiritual healing to viewers.
This is the kind of teaching I offer, both in person and online. It is a creative approach, inspired through prayer by the Holy Spirit. I've been blessed with an excellent art education and the idea of creative icons that uphold Church Traditions couldn't be more exciting to me- and I love to teach this to others. New Christian Icons is my website .
