Kate Swaffer

Drawing on my civil rights campaining, and professional and lived experiences of dementia and aged care, diagnosed with a rare young onset dementia the aged 49, I explore the daily challenges of living with and beyond dementia. My website http://kateswaffer.com/daily-blog/ incldues lived experiences and hot topics on dementia. My videos here are about what it's like living with dementia, or of presentations on topics relevant to dementia. In 2023, I have been interviewing change agents - people who are challenging the harmful status quo of dementia and aged care, human rights and disability rights experts, and so on, which will appear here soon. By challenging the notion of Prescribed Disengagement®™, I hope to offer a fresh perspective on how to live beyond dementia rather than only die from it, and offer insights into how family, friends and dementia care professionals can support people post diagnosis to do this. I've also published two books on dementia.
