Geoff Hall - Topic

Geoff started on electric guitar at age 12. He “practiced all day, every day” for about 10 years.
Then he ‘discovered’ acoustic fingerstyle guitar and shifted largely to that for the following 10
years. Along the way, he realized a passion for film scoring and orchestral music, so he decided
to pursue and acquire degrees in Film Scoring and Orchestration from the Berklee College of
Music. He’s been “pulling it all together ever since.”

Geoff considers himself to be very fortunate to have studied guitar with Shawn Lane, Alex
Degrassi, and Franco Morone. Some of his other main influences, in addition to these world
renowned guitarists, include Alex Lifeson, Trevor Rabin, Eric Johnson, John Williams, Hans
Zimmer, Harry Gregson Williams, Hammock, and John Metcalfe.

Geoff has released 3 previous albums. Two of them, Understanding the Signs (film score/
orchestral/hybrid) and While It Lasts (fingerstyle guitar) were nominated for a total of 8 “Of the
Year” awards between ZMR and One World Music.
