Guild of One-Name Studies

The Guild is the worldwide centre of excellence in one-name studies and promotes the interests of both the individuals and groups who are engaged in them. Established in 1979 and registered as a charity in 1989, the Guild provides its members with the means to share, exchange and publish information about one-name studies as well as encouraging and assisting all those interested in surname studies.

The Guild provides a friendly and knowledgeable community of experts all with varied interests and levels of experience, and provides a vast range of services to its members to help them to study their surnames of interest.

The Guild holds an annual conference each spring and hosts a full programme of educational seminars throughout the year. Many of the lectures are recorded and made freely available on our YouTube channel for the benefit of the genealogical community.The Guild also holds monthly hangouts which allow members to get together and share tips and techniques.
