North of Ireland Family History Society (NIFHS)

The objective of the Society is to foster an interest in family history with special reference to families who have roots in the North of Ireland and their descendants, wherever they may be.
We have members in 10 Branches across the north of Ireland who work together with members across the world in trying to trace their roots. We hold talks & classes, transcribe church & school records, record gravestone information, organise research trips, publish books/journals/cds & maintain a research library on the outskirts of Belfast. We have started to put our records online and also operate a free look-up service for members who are not local. Current overseas membership (Associate) is £18 a year.
DNA helps people overcome well-known gaps in paper records & successfully make family links further back. Our DNA project, with well over 1000 members, can help connect people worldwide with their roots in Ulster.
